Fly into Bangkok and let the adventure begin! From famous temples and floating markets to colorful city streets, there is so much to see and do in this vibrant city. By day, take a cultural tour of Khao San Road. Shop and bargain with street vendors, indulge in authentic Thai food, get a massage, eat a scorpion, or simply enjoy people-watching on this famous city street. By night, have a blast exploring the many bars, dance clubs, and live music venues in the city that never sleeps.

Next, take a boat tour of the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. Originating from bygone eras where water transport was a daily part of life, Bangkok’s floating markets offer a surreal experience. You’ll feel as if you’ve entered another world as you take to the waters (literally!) and shop the boat merchants along narrow canals. Here, you’ll find everything from food and artwork to gifts and souvenirs. Feeling thirsty? Make sure to try one of the fresh coconuts!

If there’s one thing you absolutely must do in Bangkok, it’s visit the Grand Palace. This is one of the most popular attractions in Thailand, but don’t take our word for it; you’ll just have to experience it for yourself! When you go, you’ll discover spectacular architecture, sacred temples, and the revered Emerald Buddha. Be sure to follow the dress code, or you may be turned away at the gate.

Where to Stay in Bangkok:

You can find amazing 4- and 5-star hotels in Bangkok for just a fraction of the price you would pay in the U.S. During our honeymoon in Thailand, we stayed at Riva Surya Bangkok and loved every minute of our experience. The location was great because it offered a peaceful setting overlooking the river, yet was just steps away from the best attractions like Khao San Road and The Grand Palace. The room was spacious, breakfast was delicious, and service was excellent!

Day 4-5: Phuket

Next, catch an AirAsia flight from Bangkok to Phuket. Phuket is the country’s largest island, and there is no shortage of things to do here. Take a trip to Kata Noi Beach, see the iconic Big Buddha, or hike to Karon View Point and enjoy picturesque views of white sandy beaches and the deep blue Andaman Sea. If you have the time, feel free to stay longer than just one day!

Where to Stay in Phuket:

We stayed the night at Rawai Palm Beach Resort and absolutely loved it. This lovely 4-star hotel had comfortable accommodations, excellent restaurants, and a pool. Highly recommend for a Phuket, Thailand honeymoon!

Day 5-8: Phi Phi Islands

The next day, wake up early and take a taxi to Rassada Pier. From here, you’ll board a ferry that will take you to the enchanting Phi Phi Islands. The ferry ride takes about 2 hours. But please be aware: once you reach Phi Phi Islands, you may lose the ability to speak or form a coherent thought. That’s because you will be too busy gazing at the breathtaking landscapes! Here, you’ll discover sparkling blue-green water, powdery white sand, lush jungles, and limestone mountains stretching as far as the eye can see. It is truly a paradise like no other.

Whether your ideal vacation consists of relaxation or adventure, you’ll discover it all on Phi Phi Islands. Enjoy lounging on white-sand beaches with your sweetie. Indulge in some of the most delicious, spicy Thai cuisine you will ever taste. Take a longboat, or hop on a catamaran, and tour Maya Bay. Go early in the morning to avoid the crowds! You don’t need to book Maya Bay tours ahead of your trip, as there are plenty of local tour services right there on the island. Many of them include snorkeling and a stop at Monkey Beach, where you can visit with real monkeys!

Adventurous couples will also love kayaking out to some of the lesser known (but equally as beautiful) islands around Koh Phi Phi. During our trip, we stumbled upon this hidden gem and enjoyed having it all to ourselves:

After a picture-perfect day, check out the buzzing island nightlife. Order a bucket of alcohol, listen to great live music, or watch a fire jump roping tournament. If you’re feeling brave enough, jump in and give it a try yourself!

Where to Stay on Koh Phi Phi:

During our amazing honeymoon in Koh Phi Phi, we stayed at the Phi Phi Cabana Hotel. We loved staying here, as it was close to everything on the main island. The room was very comfortable and there was even a gorgeous swimming pool and coffee bar.

Day 8 – 10: Chiang Mai

  • How to have the best honeymoon in Thailand.

Take the ferry from Koh Phi Phi back to Phuket, and then catch a fight to Chiang Mai. This is the perfect way to end your amazing honeymoon in Thailand! Soaring mountains, wild jungles, and hundreds of sacred temples are just the beginning of what you’ll find here. Explore the verdant green rice fields, play with elephants, swim in a waterfall, or take a Thai cooking class.

Are you interested in experiencing the local culture? Take some time to explore the temples, historic ruins, and stunning architectural landmarks. One of our favorites was the was the Wat Rong Kuhn (The White Temple), a privately-owned art exhibit designed in the style of a Buddhist Temple. For a truly special cultural experience, visit one of the authentic hill tribe villages. Or, take a 2-hour boat cruise down the Mai Ping River and see traditional teak houses and stunning landscapes. Many of the tour companies will stop halfway for lunch at a local farmer’s house. While you enjoy lunch, see firsthand how jasmine rice is produced.

If you’d like to shop for souvenirs, head to San Kamphaeng Road for unique pottery, silver, hand-carved wood products, and silk. As far as dining goes, you really can’t go wrong. Just make sure to try the Khoa Soi! Chiang Mai is famous for this tasty Thai noodle soup, which is made with a spicy coconut curry and served with chicken or beef and yellow noodles.

(Are you planning a Thailand honeymoon in November? Don’t miss the Loy Krathong Lantern Festival. This famous Chiang Mai festival is a magical sight to behold!)

Where to Stay in Chiang Mai:

For an unforgettable honeymoon in Chiang Mai, we recommend staying at Chiang Mai Riverside. Overlooking the serene Ping River, this 5-star hotel offers beautiful suites that are ideal for a honeymoon in Thailand. With amenities like feather-down pillows and Apple TV’s, you’ll have everything you need for a romantic escape.

Where is the Best Place for a Honeymoon in Thailand?

All of these destinations in Thailand are amazing and unique. No matter where you two decide to go, you’ll make memories to last a lifetime. Feel free to use this itinerary or create you own. While you could easily plan a Thailand honeymoon itinerary in 5-7 days, we’d recommend staying at least 10 days or more to account for for travel time.
